War-date Union soldier Autograph Letter Signed by James Bonney 15th Mass, KIA 5/30/1864 at Totopotomoy Creek, VA, to his family in Massachusetts, 4pp. octavo, Camp Parole, September 9, 1862, with cover, in small part: “...I was well pleased with President Lincoln’s letter to Greely. It showed Horace that Abe understood his lies and that he needed none of his instruction (likely referring to Lincoln’s August 22nd letter to Greely) ...Here are now over four thousand paroled prisoners in the camp and they are still coming in. There are some here who were in the late battles taken at Bulls Run and other places...” More. Very good condition.
