Decorative 16th Century Printed Decree, in Latin, one page, 11" x 16", January 13, 1587, with three coats-of arms at the top. The initial "I" of the text bears an engraving of Icarus descending. Partially and roughly translated: "Decreed Over All Military Branches...D. Henricus Card[inal] Caetanus of Good qualities Appoints a Deputy...to lead out colonists... to be classed among , and elected upon...Especially according to the order...". With a lengthy untranslated manuscript addition on the verso. Minor wear and soiling as expected. VG.
