TELFAIR, Edward (1735-1807), Governor of the state of Georgia in 1786, and from 1790 through 1793. Telfair was a member of the council of safety (1775-1776), and was a delegate to the Provincial Congress meeting at Savannah (1776), member of the Georgia committee of intelligence in 1776. Telfair was elected to the Continental Congress for 1778, 1780, 1781, and 1782, and a signer of the Articles of Confederation.Document Signed “Edwd. Telfair” as Governor of Georgia at lower edge of printed and filled out in manuscript document, 2 pages on laid paper, May 11, 1793, 12-1/2” x 12” with attached survey sketch 8” x 10,” with paper mache 3-1/4” circlular seal attached by cord. This land grant of 1,000 acres in Washington County is issued to Israel Robinson.
