1860s Civil War Period, Carte de Visite Photo titled: "COLORED VOLUNTEER" by Thomas Nast, recognizing the increased use of African Americans in the War effort. Fine. This original Civil War CDV of a "COLORED VOLUNTEER.", uses a photo of Thomas Nast's cartoon, signed in the plate, depicting a young Black Boy marching as a military soldier while holding a broom as if for his rifle. Small chip out at top right and bottom corner tip away from the image, with an old collector tag with notation on its blank reverse.
