The uncolored music sheet, 10-1/2" x 13-1/2", 6pp, VG. The world's first professional baseball team is honored in song by this exceedingly rare sheet music issued just after the close of the Civil War. While our lack of musical training precludes us from commenting on the tune itself, the serious baseball collector will wish to concentrate on the divine visual artistry of the cover instead. At top center is a stirring portrait of early baseball pioneer Harry Wright, with brother and fellow Hall of Famer George at lower left. Pitcher Asa Brainerd shows off his underhanded pitching form and spectacular facial hair in an action portrait at center.
