FAIRFAX, George William (1729-1787), was a planter and member of the landed gentry of late colonial Virginia. A contemporary and good friend of George Washington, Fairfax made opportunities for the younger Washington through his powerful family. Letter Signed “GW Fx” being Personally retained copy of a letter in which fairfax sends best wisshes. Theretained letter has other retianed letters on the same sheet. VG.
