War of 1812 “STATE OF NEW YORK GENERAL ORDERS” approved by President James Madision, 3pp. folio, Headquarters, Albany, August 25, 1813, and reads in part: “...In pursuance of a requisition made by authority of the President of the United States, the Commandant of the Seventh Division of Infantry is hereby ordered fortwith to detach, and have in readiness for immediate actual service...Five hundred from the 7th Brigade, Three hundred from the 24th...Three hundred from the 30th....Three hundred from the 38th...Two hundred and fifthy from the 1st...The whole detachment will form one Briadge, to the command of which Brigadier General George McClure, of Steuben county, is assigned...” Much more.
