Uncle True Songster published by Fisher and Brother (circa 1850s), Philadelphia, New York, Boston, and Baltimore, circa 1850. 32mo, stitched with blue front and back paper wrappers with woodcut African American caricatures, repeated on the book's frontis and title page, approx. 148 pages. Content page back of book, pages are not in sequential order. Includes lyrics for songs such as "Major Andre's Death", "The Battle of Baltimore", and "Taxation of America". An odd book of songs with African American caricatures on its front and back covers that are repeated as the book's frontis and title page, yet the songs have nothing to do with minstrelsy or anything in black culture. 2-3/4 x 4-1/4, repaired covers, VG
