This original, 1 page, late Revolutionary War Era Letter, May 25, 1783 was nicely written and Signed by Ray Demere in rich brown ink that is easily readable, upon 9-1/2” x 7-1/2,” clean, fine laid period paper. Typical folds with a fine split, small seal tear when opened, very clean and pleasing overall. Boldly and clearly Handwritten upon period laid paper with the watermark "GR" and what appears to be the wheel portion of a cannon. Integral Address Envelope reads, "Mr. John Davidson - in - Savannah" further noted at lower left as (being delivered), "By Mr. Milledjer's Negro man Monday." There is a hole in the center from the wax seal otherwise very nice condition. This historic, Georgia Slave Sale related letter reads, in full: "Sir -- Mr. Milledje left Instructions with me to forward a raft of Slaves down this river and in order it to your care. The bearer that will show you this has the raft in charge which you will please receive and dispose of to the best advantage - I am Sir - Your humble Servant - (Signed) Ray Demere -- (postmarked) Prospect Hill 25th May 1783" Docket on the blank reverse reads, "Raymond Demeres Letter - 25th May 1783
