Manuscript Document Signed "Edward Brinson" and "Robert Blackbourne" one page, 17" x 6.25" on vellum, [Duxbury]., March 4, 1655. Folds, some toning. An interesting document in which Brinson and Blackbourne affirm their obligation to Richard Standish who had extended them a loan of £3,000 "to be paid to the said Richard or to his retained attorney … " Richard Standish (1620-1662) English politician who sat in the House of Commons for Preston from 1659-60, was the son of Thomas Standish (c. 1593 - 1642) who sat in Parliament for Preston during the Short Parliament of 1640 and in the Long Parliament until 1642. Standish, who lived at Duxbury Manor in Lancashire, was very possibly a relative of Myles Standish, one of the founders of Plymouth Colony in 1620.
