First edition. Reverend Eliphalet Nott details the evils of dueling in the wake of Hamilton’s death at the hand of Aaron Burr in their infamous showdown. The Appendix includesa printing of Hamilton’s will and Hamilton’dexplanation of the circumstances that would conclude in the Burr duel.The reverend had personal ties to Hamilton as the latter’s father in law, Philip Schulyer was a parishioner in Nott’s church. This discourse became a standard work for those decrying the custom of dueling. The pamphlet has been hardbound with gilt inscribed spine.Excellent.
