A good copper-plate, 8 1/2" x 14", London, ca. 1792, on laid paper, entitled: "The MANNER in which the American Colonies Declared themselves INDEPENDENT of the King of ENGLAND, throughout the different Provinces, on July 4, 1776." An exact example of those produced for Barnard's New-Completed Authentic History of England. It is interesting to note that this print does not bear the legend at the top indicating that it was not produced for that book. Therefore, this print was produced as a stand alone although it was accomplished by the same manufacturers. Sculpted by Noble and drawn by William Hamilton (1751-1801). The print is surrounded by a highly stylized border with a royal military motif at the bottom. From the archives of the famed Kean Archives, Philadelphia. Very good to near fine with light soiling.
