A 19th century circular pressed horn box with a portrait of Robert Burns (1759-1796) looking at a figure representing his Muse. The legend around the perimeter, "The poetic genius of my country found me at the plough and threw her inspiring mantle over me". Beneath the portrait of Burns are the words "Vide Burns dedication" . On the reverse is the impression of a plough surrounded by a band of oak leaves. Fine and glossy.
