Small auction broadside, 5" x 7". printed on card stock, "On Pier 2, E.R. By L.M. Hoofman & Co.", March 30, 1861. The auction consists of 10 lots of New Orleans Sugar and Barrles of Molasses. On January 26, 1861, Louisiana seceded from the United States. Louisiana remained independent until March 21, 1861, when it joined the Confederate States of America. New Orleans surrendered on April 28, 1862. Remaining Confederate for only 455 days, New Orleans was the first major Confederate city captured.
