Partly-printed Document, 1pp octavo, Fall Term, 1838, Lawrence County, Alabama, being a grand jury indictment of “Howell Brown being the master or other person standing toward the slave in tthat relation inflicted or allowed another to inflict cruel & inhuman punishment upon Fleming a slave, the personal property of David H. Walker...” Fine condition. The 1850 census shows that David H. Walker of Lawrence County, held fifty-eight slaves.
