War of 1812 Manuscript Document, 1pp., Nov. 14, 1814 "At a Meeting of the Committee of defense for Philadelphia & c. Resolved, That this committee accept the offer of the Secretary of the Navy communicated to them by Mr. George Harrison and will advance the sum of such money not exceeding $150,00.00, as may be necessary for the purpose of constructing a steam floating battery to be employed in the defense of the shores of the Delaware and the city of Philadelphia, the monies to be reimbursed in such a manner as may be agreed between the Secretary of the Navy and this committee….J.N. Goodman, Secy, Philada. November 18, 1814." Penned just a month before the Treaty of Ghent which officially ended the war. Corners show remnants of being glued to a scrapbook, a 1x1" square block of tape to reverse which tones the bottom of document, affecting the word "Philada", small eraser sized dot to center, otherwise Fine. Significant war content.
