WILSON, James 1742-1798) was one of the Founding Fathers of the United States and a signer of the United States Declaration of Independence. Wilson was elected twice to the Continental Congress, and was a major force in drafting the United States Constitution, where he represented Pennsylvania. A leading legal theorist, he was one of the six original justices appointed by George Washington to the Supreme Court of the United States. Partial printed and filled out, signed on the reverse “Wilson”, “October 27, “in the sixteenth Year of our Reign”, a warrant in the name of "George the Third" to the Sheriff directing him to seize Henry Heasley and Thomas Shorties .... a certain debt of ten pounds ...” Light general toning, a little darker at edges and folds. This is signed months after the Declaration and still using the King’s form.
