Map, “West Indies, with the Harbour & Fort of Omoa From the Best Authorities,” c.1780, uncoloured, 28-1/2’ x 14,” with shipping pictorial cartouche at left, fine. This map of the Caribbean islands including Cape Florida, Cuba, Jamaica, Virgin Islands, Mexico, Central America, and northern South America. Also included,an inset at upper right: “The Harbour & Fort of Omoa”. The fort of Omoa, built to protect Spanish interests against piracy, is located in Honduras. The English briefly occupied the town in 1779 and reportedly burned its 200 buildings.
