Letter, written by “Joseph Parsons” Brookfield, May 24, 1762, 4pp., with address panel, 6’ x 8.” Writing to his father, Rev. Joseph Parsons, Bradford. The son advises in part, “... informed me that a lot of land in the West wing containing 46 acres but a few rods from the Meeting House lot, and therefore valuable ... may soon sell. .. the Rev’d Mr. Forbes is upon the point of leaving us which I trust you have heard of. His people are in high Wrath. Imagine the consequence of his going away will be a final separation. ... PS: Mr. Forbes is Bound into the Wilderness to X anize [ie: Christianize] the Savage Inhabitants.Rev. Eli Forbes D. D. was born at Westborough in 1726, and was graduated at Harvard College, in 1751. " In 1762, he went as a missionary to the Oneidas, amongst whom he established a church and instituted a school. On his return he brought four Indian youths, whom after educating, he sent back to instruct their nation. Joseph Parsons, Jr. was also a reverend and Harvard graduate, 1752.
