A complete authentic issue of The Connecticut Gazette, New London, November 10, 1791, 4pp., disbound, weak at spine else VG. From the interior, a 1-1/4 column lengthy and detail report of the gruesom Hatian Insurrection . In small part, “... 500 troops attacked a fortified camp of the Negroes on Gallisault estate ... a horrid carnage then ensued, the troops having orders to give no quarters to men, women, or children; .... after this engagement the main body of the Negroes ... established themselves at Red Bank ... Here their numbers aee variously reported from 8 to 10,000 ... the whole number of the insurgents are supposed to be eighty thousand ... They fight under a bloody flag, having on it a motto denouncing death to all Whites. .. The country is filled with dead bodies which lie unburied. the Negroes have left the Whites with stakes & drove through them into the ground; and the White troops who now take no prisoners, but kill everything black or yellow, leave the Negroes dead upon the fields. ...”
