Nice group of war-date pay orders to officers of the Continental Army, dated 1781-1782, all 1pp. most about 5”x8”, authorizing John Lawrence, Treasurer of Connecticut to pay various officers. Four are signed by OLIVER WOLCOTT JR. (1760-1833) United States Secretary of the Treasury from 1795 to 1800 and the 24th Governor of Connecticut from 1817-1827; and the others are signed by SAMUEL WYLLYS (1739-1823) was a colonel who led a regiment in the siege of Boston during the American Revolutionary War; and JEDEDIAH HUNTINGTON (1743-1818), a Harvard graduate with a Masters from Yale, joined the Continental Army outside Boston one week after the Battle of Lexington (1775). He commanded a Connecticut brigade throughout the Revolutionary War, being promoted to Brigadier at George Washington's personal request. All very good to fine condition.
