PETERS, Richard (1704-1776) Clergyman; rector of Christ Church in Philadelphia. He, together with Benjamin Franklin, founded the Public Academy, which became the College of Philadelphia and served as trustee and president of its board. He was also an incorporator of the Philadelphia Library. Manuscript Document Signed, "R. Peters" as witness to a receipt of monies from Thomas Kendall, August 7, 1754. Also witnessed by Luke Taylor.
