Rare chromolithograph portrait of Stephen A. Douglas, orator, political adversary of Abraham Lincoln, and US Senator. Chromolithography was an innovative technique that allowed the mass production of what appeared like realistic oil-on-canvas portraits. Few examples of Douglas have sold publicly. The piece is in an original period frame, the colors remain vivid. The piece has a repairable tear in his coat, else very good.
