c. 1820, Rare type General George Washington Wax Portrait, Shown Wearing His Military Uniform, Shadow Box Framed, Very Fine. Displayed in an early Decorative Shadow-box Frame made for hanging on a wall. It has a 3.25" high x 2" wide Profile Portrait in Wax of George Washington shown wearing his Revolutionary War military uniform in cocoa color wax with good details. There is a fine split in the wax along Washington's collar line with a small piece lacking to the outer surface layer. Housed in its original contemporary black painted shadow-box style frame, having a decorative gold-gilt inner liner, measuring to 6.75" high x 5.4" wide, and ready for hanging on display. Ex: Joan F. Seifter Collection, tag attached on the reverse of the frame is included.
