Broadside, “How The War Commenced, And How Near It Is Ended,” issued by the National Union Executive Committee, Astor House, New York, 12” x 19,” with tissue repair to horizontal split, a few minor interior tears, and damp stain along the right edge. Great bold headline, below of which is a map showing the shrinkage of the Confederate states under Lincoln's administration. The grey are reflects the Confederacy as formed, the black area reflects the area now controlled by the Confederacy. The text is set up in two columns and rails against the Democrats assertion that the administration of Lincoln is responsible for the War. This is supported by 11 actions taken before Lincoln took office including the February 9th election of Jefferson Dsavis as President. This broadside has condition flaws, still an important Lincoln piece.
