to include: Clifton Rodes Breckinridge (1846-1932) was a Democratic alderman, congressman, diplomat, businessman and veteran of the Confederate Army and Navy. He was a member of the prominent Breckinridge family, the son of Vice President of the United States and Confederate General John C. Breckinridge. At the outbreak of the Civil War, he entered the Confederate Army with his father and was later a midshipman in the Confederate Navy. Signed Page, “C.R. Breckinridge, Pine Bluff, Ark-”. ... plus, George Tankard Garrison (1835-1889) was a U.S. Representative from Virginia. He served as a private in the Confederate States Army during the Civil War. He served as member of the Virginia House of Delegates during the period 1861–1863. He served in the Senate of Virginia in the years 1863–1865.Signed Page, “Geo. T. garrison, VA.” ... plus, Hilary Abner Herbert (1834-1919) was Secretary of the Navy in the second administration of President Grover Cleveland. He also served as a member of the United States House of Representatives from Alabama. Herbert entered the Confederate Army as a second lieutenant. He served as captain of the Greenville Guards, and was later promoted to the rank of colonel of the Eighth Regiment, Alabama Infantry. Herbert was wounded at the Battle of the Wilderness May 6, 1864. He served as captain in the Confederate States Army during the Civil War. He was Commonwealth's attorney of the city of Richmond from 1870 to 1889, when he resigned.
