Walter Damrosch (1862-1950) who was the longtime leader of the New York Symphony Orchestra. His 1896 opera The Scarlet Letter, adapted from the eponymous novel, was evidently the first such venture based on a work by Hawthorne. Signed card, 3-1/2"x 2", "Walter Damrosch" in pencil. $50-$100
