Booklet, “A Caution to Great Britain and Her Colonies, in a Short Representation of the Calamitous State of Enslaved Negroes in the British Dominions” Anthony Benezet, 1785, 48pp., Philadelphia Printed; London reprinted and Sold by James Phillips, in George-Yard, Lombard Street. This work, first published in 1766, was a seminal anti-slavery work, distributed on both sides of the Atlantic. It includes numerous reports on the conditions of slaves and captives in Africa, the West Indies, and the American South. Front cover lacks 15% of paper upper right corner, else VG. Anthony Benezet was a prominent New Jersey Quaker, educator, philanthropist, and early abolitionist. Benezet founded a school for African American children in 1770.
