LEE, Henry "Light-Horse Harry" (1756-1818) was an early American Patriot and politician who served as the ninth Governor of Virginia and as the Virginia Representative to the United States Congress. Lee's service during the American Revolution as a cavalry officer in the Continental Army earned him the nickname by which he is best known, "Light-Horse Harry". Lee was the father of Civil War-era Confederate general Robert E. Lee. Autograph Letter Signed, “Henry Lee”, 2pp., Richmond, July 5, 1794, VG. In part, “I had pleased myself with the expectation of seeing you when in Alex. the other day but was disapponited. I wished to have made the requisite conveyances as well as to have enquired into the cause of your delay of the improvements ... know when you were to direct the sale ... To all these points I request the favor of your answer & beg leave to remind you from the value of our bargain ... operates injuriously to me. I mention this not to urge you to inconvenient haste but least in the magnitude of your concerns you may overlook our joint interest ...”
