War-date State of Connecticut pay voucher for Lebbeus Qui, signed with his “X”, a free negro from Norwich, 1pp. oblong octavo, June 1, 1782. Quie enlisted in 1776 and again in 1780, serving until 1782. Qui is listed as Norwich’s only official African-American pensioner of the Revolutionary War. Authorized by the signature of John Laurence at bottom. Cancellation punch, else fine condition.
