American Anti-Slavery Society pre-printed letter addressed to Weirick, 2pp. folio, December 2, 1839, with great content on the various topics of concern pertaining to the institution of slavery in the United States, and reads in small part: '...Have the churches in your vicinity a 'negro seat'? Have 'free churches' such a seat? Are colored persons considered at liberty to sit in other seats? In churches where the pews are sold, are colored persons permitted to purchase?...When the sacrament is administered are colored communicants served last? Are colored persons admitted to your school & scientific lectures with the rights & privileges of whites? Are they permitted to visit places of amusement, public exhibitions & c.?..." Much more in this vein…PLUS; Unusual Autograph Letter Signed by Thomas Weirick, 1pp. quarto, undated, addressed "To his Excellency William Henry Harrison President of the United States." and reads "The undersigned neighbors of Colonel Robert P. Maclay now representing this district in the Senate of the state understanding that he is an applicant for Superintendant of the National Armory at Harper's Ferry. Beg your Excellency to receive our testimony to his moral worth integrity & high qualifications for the situation. His appointment will be considered a great favor...". Both Fine condition
