Newspaper “Washington County People’s Journal” Greenwich, New York, December 6, 1855, with good speech by C.B. Campbell entitled “The Aggression of Slavery on the Soul of America.” Delivered before the Ladies Anti-Slavery Sewing Society at Union Village, September 28, 1855, that extends a full five columns across the front page. In very small part: “...Free Soilers ask for only what they think the constitution give them - ask only for an annihilation of the interstate trade, abolition of Slavery in the District of Columbia, no more Slave Territory, and the like. They get what we already have, a Pro-Slavery Government. The Slave Pen removed from under the Capitol, but the trade going on still...” With original paper wrapper, with ink manuscript “C.B. Campbell Esq. Speech at Greenwich N.Y.” A nice paper.
