Postcard of a “P-47 Thunderbolt” piloted by “Lt. Clarence Lester, Pilot” with inset image, verso states “This is the Republic P47 Thunderbolt Purchased by the children of St. Alphonsus School” with “Sample” stamp. Fine condition. Rare. Clarence Lester (1923-1986) was a member of the renowned all-Black 100th Fighter Sqadron of the 332nd Fighter Group during World War II. Over southern Germany, Lester shot down three enemy aircraft within five minutes, a feat no other pilot had accomplished.
