Pair of war-date Confederate officer’s Autograph Letters Signed by Captain George Bouton, and reads in part: “...[2/12/62]Military men think our hardest time is about to commence and that we have much fighting to do yet. The camp presents very much the same appearance that it did when you were here. Gen. Magruder has been absent in Richmond for several days having been telegraphed for most of the army is very uneasy for fear he may be transferred. The soldiers here are reenlisting very rapidly the army will be increased by Spring...[3/27/62] The enemy are about 12 miles from here [Yorktown] and advancing with a large force recently arrived from Manassas, they are coming up the Peninsula. There is no fleet yet in sight. The 14th Alabama has just arrived, the 25 Virginia are said to be landing on James Rive a greater probability of a fight than ever...” Fine condition.
