Group of four (4) Confederate officer’s Autograph Letter Signed by Captain George Bouton, penned between December 19, 1861 and January 10, 1862, with good content, they read in part: “...[12/26/61 Yorktown]I asked the authorities to let me go to Richmond some days since to purchase some clothing for the men, who were very much in need and they refused. It is now my impression that I shall never ask them again for a privilege...As much pleased as I would be to see you & Mollie here, I had rather not see you if you have to stay in my tent. Whilst it is a good large one, warm and comfortable, yet it is surrounded by the tents of others who are very vulgar...[1/10/62 Yorktown]Capt. Maury’s commission has been revoked. Capt. Peyton is absent on furlough and I have been placed in command of the battery temporarily which engages all of my attention...were I a more efficient commander I could do it with more ease...There is a large fleet at Fortress Monroe. We are on watch...” Fine condition (4 items)
