Group of three (3) war-date Confederate officer’s Autograph Letter Signed by Captain George Bouton, one with cover, written between July 4 and Joy 12, 1861includes: [7/4/61] we have here or in this division about 15,000 men, we are throwing up breastworks, commenced this morning the drill of the piece. We have no tents and are quartered in some old houses, had rather bin camp & will be probably sent out in a short time....Gen. Magruder is in command, Col. D.H. Hill second in command. We are under the immediate command of Maj. Randolph...[7/12/61]I see the militia of Madison has been called out, I am glad that I am not there...from Lincoln’s message I expect to be in the Army until the 29 of next May & possibly longer...” Fine condition.
