War-date Confederate soldier’s Autograph Letter Signed, 2pp. quarto, pencil, Camp Norton, Louisia County, Virginia, August 5, 1862, and reads in part: “...I lost several of my friends in the battles and had to dodge some myself to keep alive... I want Mars West to get me a pair of boots from Cowan’s as cheap as he can get them and to send them as soon as he can. Capt. [Abner Monroe] Perrin [ later Brigadier General] is coming out in two weeks he could bring them....Tell Bob and Charles that they might write since they are out of the wars. Tell Mars West that I would like to have three silver half dollars for it is scarce...” About very good condition.
