War-date Confederate imprint, 2p. octavo, being a House Bill "To prevent trading with the enemy" December 22, 1863, with 'Rebel Archives' stamp, and reads in part: "…The Congress of the Confederate States of America do enact, That no person resident in, or citizen of, the Confederate States, shall trade or have commercial intercourse with citizens of, or residents in, the United States, except in articles exclusively for the use of the Government of the Confederate States or a State thereof, under orders from the proper authority….No person shall bring into the Confederate States any goods, wares, or merchandize, produced in, or brought from, the United States, or from any point within the enemy's lines, other than such property as belonged to such person before the war, or the occupation of such point by the enemy, or such property as has been captured from the enemy…" Fine.
