War-date Confederate Document Signed by B. Bevell, issued to Joseph Ferdinand Kent (1820-1886) Major of the 4th Virginia Infantry and later Commander of the Wythe County Home Guards, Wythe Co. Virginia, April 25, 1864, and reads in part: “...The exigencies of our army having made it necessary to obtain all the supplies possible, I am directed by the Commissary General to leave nothing undone to gather them. I will pay you the prices as fixed by the Commissioners of this State, in their published Schedule, for Wheat, above what is necessary for yourself and family. Should you refuse this offer, you will consider the said articles as impressed for the use of the C.S. Army; and it must not be sold...” Fine condition.
