War-date Union soldier’s Autograph Letter Signed by Pleasant Ritchey, 5th North Carolina Infantry, WIA at Brandy Station, POW at Spotsylvania Court House, 2pp. octavo, Camp of the 5 Regt, January 31, 1864, and reads in part:” ...My mess are David Lowder and Joseph Morton, and Monroe Crips. James Brooks was but he was detailed the other day for a ambulance driver so our mess has changed some....Some of the boys plays ball and some plays cards as form y part, I won’t take no part with them in their games...” More on wanting to sleep on sheep skins instead of the ground, etc. Very good condition.
