Confederate broadside imprint “AMENDMENT To Bill to authorize the consolidation of companies, battalions, and regiments.” 1pp. octavo, December 19, 1864, and reads in part: “...Provided, That the field and company officers of a new regiment to be made up of two or more consolidated regiments, shall be elected as follows, to-wit: The Colonel shall be selected from the colonels from the several regiments, if there should be colonels out of whom to make the selection; if not, then and in that event, out of the remaining field officers. The Lieutenant-Colonel shall be selected from the lieutenant-colonels of the several regiments, if there should be lieutenant colonels left out of whom to make the selection; if not, then out of the remaining field officers. The Major shall be selected from the majors of the several regiments, if there should be majors left out of whom to make the selection; if not, then out of the remaining field officers not selected as colonel or lieutenant-colonel. The Captain from the several captains, the First Lieutenant from the several first lieutenants, and the Second Lieutenants from the several second lieutenants of the several regiments...” Fine.
