War-date Confederate soldier’s Autograph Letter Signed by John F. Hicks, Co. H, 12th Virginia Infantry, POW at Burgess Hill, Petersburg Siege, 1pp. octavo, Prisoners Camp, Point Lookout, January 2, 1865, and reads in part: “...Incarcerated as I am in a military prison and a crowd of confusion when anything seems harsh & forbodeding and nothing left to beguile the gloom presents some privledge and pleasure of opening a correspondence with those over whose memory my heart often yearns shall this alleviationg be reciprocated...send me a few dollars to buy some refreshments...direct to Co. B 3rd Division Pris of War...” Fine condition.
