Excellent war-date Confederate States of America treasury check signed by James Gardiner Paxton (1821-1870) who was an officer in the 1st Virginia Battalion and later worked with the Quartermaster Department, March 24, 1865, Lynchburg, Virginia, issued to Captain J.R. Ward, 16th Virginia Cavalry A.Q.M. for $1400. Endorsed on verso by Ward. Fine condition.
