War-date Confederate Prisoner of War Autograph Letter Signed by Robert M. Rucker, 2nd Tennessee Infantry, who was WIA at Chickamauga, and taken prisoner at Goldsboro, North Carolina, March 22, 1865. This 1pp. octavo letter, dateline Point Lookout 6th Division Co. ‘I’ Maryland, April 7, 1865, reads in part: “...I am a prisoner of war captured on the 22nd of last month. Have been treated very kindly by the Federal Authorities. Don’t know when I will be exchanged. In all probability not very soon I expect...I understand that a good many of my Tenn. Boys who were prisoners have taken the oath; I do not know how true it is. I cannot tell when this ‘cruel war’ will be over, but I think from present appearances it cannot last long. If there is any chance to get me out of prison, I will not object. I will act in good faith...Catesby Edmonson is here, is well, was captured last Sunday near Petersburg, Va.” Fine condition.
