War-date Union soldier’s Autograph Letter Signed by William P. Chase, 2nd Massachusetts Infantry, 3pp. octavo, Frederick City, Maryland, September 22, 1862, with cove addressed to G.W. Kennedy in Pennsylvania, it reads in part: “...I am in what is called a hospital. I think the last time I wrote you we were after Jackson. Well, we did not catch him, but we came up with some of force and on Sunday, (one week ago yesterday) and we had a fight and you see that I happened to stand in the way of one of the Secesh balls, stuck me in the side, but not very bad. I walked off the field. There were three men killed and five wounded in our company, both Lieuts were killed and the next day our Col. made me first Lieut. ...” About very good condition.
