War-date Union soldier’s Autograph Letter Signed by John Hubbell, 4pp. octavo, Saratoga, New York, February 2, 1864, and reads in part: “...I would like to come home and see you once more before am gone to Dixie. We expect to go before long. We are going to Tennessee to fight under General Burnside. I hope that this cruel war is about over so that all of the boys can come home and so that the weeping mothers will stop their mourning and that it will be union all over the United States and then it will be nice times again...Company H has been in a fight with the Copperheads in this town and we whiped them out and shot one man and wounded 7 more of them but we did not get hurt. This is the first battle that Co. H has been in but it is ready for another any time. That is the war game...” Very good condition. With 1901 genealogy document pertaining to the Hubbel family.
