Retained pressed copy of Federal General Orders issued at “Head Quarters 5th Army Corps” 1pp. octavo, June 5, 1864, and reads in part: “...The following organization of the Fifth Army Corps is hereby made. 1st The 1st Division will be commanded by Brig. Genl. C. Griffin It will consist of Genl. Bartletts Brigade. Genl. Switzers Brigade and the former 5 Brigade of the 4th Division. This Brigade will be commanded by Colonel Chamberlain. Col. Bragg will rejoin his Regiment. Three Batteries will be attached to this division. 2d. The 2d Division will be commanded by Brig Genl. R.B. Hayes. It will consist of his own Brigade the Maryland Brigade. Colonel Dushane, and the heavy artillery brigade Col. Kitching. Three Batteries will also be assigned to this division. 3d The 3d Divisino be commanded by Brig. Genl. S.W. Crawford. It will consist of the Veteran Brigade of Penna. Reserves and the Brigades commanded by Colonels Lyle & [?]...” VG.
