“The Bugle, Bowdoin College,” November 1867, 5-1/2” x 9,” 32pp., plus cover, interior fine, cover shows mold stain. Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain (1828-1914), Union Civil War general and hero of Gettysburg, was a Bowdoin graduate (1852) and later President of Bowdoin (1871-1883). Chamberlain is listed in this issue as President of the Association of the Alumni and Graduate Officer of Phi Beta Kappa. The Bowdoin College baseball program started in 1867 and there are two pages regarding Base Ball in this issue; one listing the three Bowdoin teams, the second announcing Bowdoin’s Base-Ball Championship.
