Imprint “Battle Field Guide of the Battles South Mountain and Antietam, Md. September 14th to 20th, 1862.” by George Hess, Lat Co. I, 28th Regt Pa. Vet. Vol. Infantry, 1890, 70pp. 5-3/4”x9”, with original cover, though in some state of disrepair. Overall about very good condition. George Hess enlisted January 23, 1864, and was mustered into the 28th Pennsylvania Infantry, he was severely wounded at Culp’s Farm, Virginia, which resulted in the amputation of his left leg.
