Oval albumen photograph of Commander John Lorimer Worden (1818-1897) U.S. rear admiral who served in the American Civil War. He commanded Monitor against the Confederate vessel Virginia (originally named Merrimack) in first battle of ironclad ships in 1862. Image is approximately 5”x7”, ID’d on verso, with dampstain at far right. Nice in uniform photograph of this naval hero.
